Airspace is a collaborative, artist-led project in Stoke-on-Trent. Since 2006 it has worked with artists and the local community with a particular focus on its location and the socio-political landscape. 

We began working with Airspace on a new visual identity in 2019, through a workshop with local residents examining the variety of ways that typefaces can tell us something about a place, a person or an organisation. 

This led to the development of a set of custom letterforms that refer to the different aspects of Airspace's activities as a gallery, studios, project space and community organistion. 

A redesigned website uses these new letterforms in random variations to suggest new connections and unexpected conclusions.
