‘;-) :-& ;-o New Town Culture: Art for Young People’ was an exhibition held at Valence House Museum made by artist Rebecca Davies for young people to hang-out in and to show adults how to be creative. The work in the exhibition was made in art clubs with children, teenagers, and foster carers from across Barking and Dagenham.

We designed an identity around a set of parts that formed a custom typeface applied across the exhibition and publication. Colour and texture were used in the space to highlight each area of activitiy and to encourage interaction. 

The project was commissioned by New Town Culture, a programme of creative activity taking place in adult and children’s social care across the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. It explores how artistic and cultural experiences can reframe the work of social care and support adults and children in need of social care services.
